What Is an MFP vs. an MFD?
Two names, one machine — and RDI carries both.
A multifunction printer (MFP) and a multifunction device (MFD) are the same category of equipment: a single networked machine that prints, copies, scans, and usually faxes. Sharp, HP, and most U.S. dealers say MFP; MFD is the term you will see in enterprise procurement documents, government RFPs, and outside the United States. What is the difference between an MFP and an MFD?
There is no functional difference. MFP (multifunction printer) and MFD (multifunction device) both describe a networked machine that prints, copies, scans, and faxes. MFP is the everyday term used by Sharp, HP, and U.S. dealers; MFD shows up in procurement and government documents. RDI’s Sharp lineup satisfies either specification.
How much does a Sharp copier lease cost?
Lease pricing depends on the model, its speed and monthly volume rating, color versus mono, finishing options, the lease term, and whether service and toner are bundled. Which MFP is right for a 10-person office?
Most 10-person offices are well served by a color A4 or compact A3 MFP in the 30 to 45 pages-per-minute range, such as the Sharp BP-C535WD or BP-C545WD, or a BP-50 series workgroup model if the office prints on ledger-size paper. If your team scans heavily, single-pass duplex scanning and cloud connectors matter more than raw print speed.
Can an MFP scan directly to SharePoint or email?
Yes. Sharp BP-series MFPs scan to email, network folders, and cloud destinations including SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Google Drive, Dropbox, and Box, with OCR to searchable PDF or Microsoft Office formats. With Active Directory integration, users sign in at the panel and their scans route to their own mailbox or folders automatically.
